Why Juice Vegetables?
WHAT VEGETABLES SHOULD I JUICE?
"Juicing speeds up the detoxification process, removing toxins and hardened deposits in the body"
The juice of organic vegetables will not only speed up the process of detoxification - cleansing out toxins and flushing the cells of impurities - it will flood your body with enzymes, vitamins and minerals for quick absorption....and greatly benefit the immune system.
The juice of organic vegetables is rich in nutrients. As the cells of your body are bathed in these fresh, alkaline vegetable juices, they begin to release acids, which are toxins that can then be removed through the elimination channels of the body including the lungs, kidneys, skin etc.
Juicing provides a rich source of live enzymes essential to the digestive process. Enzymes are proteins that break down foods into nutrients your body can readily digest. When you eat, digestive enzymes are released from your saliva glands sending signals to the stomach and small intestine in preparation for digestion.
Most adults have used up all of their digestive enzymes by the time they are 30 due to the "Standard American Daily Diet" of meat and potatoes. Often people will take digestive enzymes with meals for this very reason….to help the body digest protein, carbs and fats.
It is vital to detoxify the body so our cells can absorb nutrients from the food we eat. When the body has an over accumulation of toxins and then good nutrients are taken in whether from foods or supplements, the nutrients have to wade through the sludge slowing down their ability to reach our tissues. For example, if a sponge is full of dirty water (as the cells are full of toxins), adding additional water to the sponge will have little impact, even if the water is clean.
"The truth is that nutritional deficiencies and toxicity go hand in hand. If you treat deficiencies without addressing toxicity you make little headway and likewise, if you treat toxicity without addressing deficiencies then no long-term benefit will apply".
by Kathryn Alexander D.Th.D.
So, juicing will assist to break down toxins, cleanse the body, carry oxygen and nutrients directly to the cells and tissues, and allow nutrients to be better absorbed.

Important Notes About Our Experience With Juicing
When we started juicing, we kept it as simple as possible. We purchased a Champion juicer, which fit our budget. Champion is a masticating juicer which is important for proper juice extraction. The cost is around $300 to $325. There are other excellent juicers such as GreenStar and they run in the $500 to $800 range and higher.
You will want a masticating juicer that also presses with a slow RPM. Centrifugal juicers tend to destroy enzymes and too much of the juice is left in the pulp…which means less vitamins and minerals in your body. We have been using our Champion Juicer for 16 years and have only replaced the blades.
Drink the juices you create within 30 minutes. Juice will start to oxidize after that, losing valuable enzymes and vitamins. Bottled juices are not a good substitute for fresh juices. Enzymes are destroyed in the bottling process.
Just before drinking the freshly made juice, put a few Celtic salt crystals on your tongue (contains 72 minerals). The salt will signal the body to absorb more of the nutrients as you drink the juice.
We often include 2 teaspoons of a high quality spirulina to our juice for high protein. The spirulina has 3 times the protein found in meat, and is very, very nutritious.
*An important note* Use a high quality spirulina, as it is 60% protein and a high source of anti-oxidants, chlorophyll rich and further increases vitamins and minerals in our body. All spirulinas are not high quality and if not grown in pristine situations and prepared properly at the time of manufacture the end product can be oxidized prior to opening the jar.
What We Put In Our Juices
We tend to juice product that is in season at the time. The following is a list of the most common organic produce we put in our juices; generally whatever looks vibrant and fresh, green and in season….which means not everything you read below is in every drink. Just do the best you can with the produce available. Be aware of what you may be allergic to. I personally cannot tolerate cucumbers, so I leave them out.
Once the juice is made, add spirulina if you like, as well as some good fat such as 1 TBS of coconut oil (or a few slices of avocado). When the coconut oil is in a solid state, it won't mix well; so I sometimes put the coconut oil straight on my tongue as it is such a good fat. NOTE: You may want to start with 2 teaspoons of the Spirulina, as your body adjusts to this high density food.
When I was detoxifying and healing my body, I focused on eating a "greener diet" and made 2 juices a day for about 1 year. I had chronic fatigue and many other health challenges when I started…including pre cancer of the liver. Once I regained my health, I began to taper down to one juice a day, and now since I am working again and travel regularly, I juice whenever I feel like it. I also include the Red Desert® Clay every day for the highly absorbable minerals, building bone density and for the toxins it removes, which are taken in from daily living.
The benefits of juicing are enormous. Green juices help to eliminate wastes and toxins and irrigate the body, build the blood and carry oxygen and nutrients directly to the tissues.
Start slowly. Listen to your body, and don't worry about getting it perfect. If there was one right, perfect juice, diet, food or supplement we would all be doing it!
There are different approaches to detoxifying the body. We are very grateful for the health we have created and it is our hope that this article is helpful to you in reclaiming vibrant health.
